A Richmond Hill physiotherapist is now facing additional sexual assault charges as more victims have emerged in an ongoing investigation. Iraj Daneshvar, 53, of Richmond Hill, was initially charged with one count of sexual assault on October 30, 2023. This development follows the receipt of new allegations against Daneshvar, bringing the gravity of the situation to light.
York Regional Police revealed that they first received information about a possible sexual assault on October 23, 2023, in Richmond Hill. The initial complaint involved a victim who reported being sexually assaulted during an appointment at a clinic located near Yonge Street and Centre Street. Following this, Daneshvar was identified and charged.
However, the situation escalated when, on Wednesday, authorities announced that additional victims had come forward, alleging similar experiences of sexual assault by the suspect. These new allegations have led to two more sexual assault charges being laid against Daneshvar.
In a news release, a spokesperson for the York Regional Police emphasized the seriousness of these developments and expressed concern that there may be more victims who have not yet come forward. “Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging them to contact authorities as soon as possible,” the spokesperson stated.
The police are actively encouraging any other potential victims or individuals with relevant information to come forward to aid in the investigation. This call to action underlines the commitment of the York Regional Police to thoroughly investigate these allegations and provide support to the victims.
